Remodelling Home: Claystation at Scotland's Housing Expo 2010

Scotland’s Housing Expo is the first event of its kind in Scotland. It showcases over 50 innovative, architect-designed houses for the future – which people from all backgrounds, ages and income brackets can afford to rent or buy.

The Expo is based upon similar models found in mainland Europe, and particularly Finland where historically the ‘Housing Fair’ concept has proven very successful in stimulating high-quality design and innovation in housing.

Aspiring to bring about a similar impact in Scotland and throughout the UK, the Scottish Housing Expo offers a new model for future housing design and development. The homes on view will be available to purchase, with a large proportion (40%) being affordable housing for sale or rent.

Remodelling Home has been specially created for the Expo by Claystation, in collaboration with Sust., the Scottish Government’s mechanism for mainstreaming sustainable design in the built environment. Remodelling Home provides people with an opportunity to design their own house in plasticine for fun and debate. By playfully creating new designs, Remodelling Home raises awareness of our built environment, encouraging those who live and work in Scotland and beyond, to not merely take a closer look at the houses and spaces around them, but to be active in their rethinking and redesigning.

This event will be open to the public from 1 – 31 August 2010 and will be fully facilitated by the Claystation and Sust. teams.
