I got into reading news via RSS feeds and this quickly became part of my daily ritual. I wondered how news via RSS might be more like the weather, so you could "look out of the window" to see what was happening in the world. In the end I settled on using my bathroom mirror as an interactive display.
At the time I was also commuting from Edinburgh to work in Dundee, which took 2 hours door-to-door. Podcasting was just taking off and I wanted the latest news stories on my ipod so I could read them on the train.
